VEGETABLE AU GRATIN



Description: Mixed vegetable baked in white sauce and cheese.

Ingredients

2 teacups mixed par boiled vegetables ( corn, french beans, green peas, potatoes, cauliflower, spinach)
3 teacups white sauce
100 grams grated cooking cheese
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Method

1. Add salt and pepper to the white sauce and mix well. Add half of the grated cheese and mix well. Now add the mixed vegetables and mix well.
2. Grease a baking dish and put the mixture in it. Cover with the remaining cheese and dot with butter.
3. Bake in a hot oven at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
4. Serve hot.


White Sauce:

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon plain flour (maida)
1 teacup milk
salt and pepper to taste

Method
1. Melt the butter on a slow flame. Add the flour and cook on a slow flame, while stirring throughout, until mixed well.

2. Add the milk gradually and stir continually until the sauce thickens.

3. Add salt and pepper and mix well.

Tip: It's best served with Garlic Bread
